La Tinaia was born back in 1988 from an idea of Giancarlo Mandl who, driven by a desire to create something new in the local restaurant scene, decided to open the doors of a cosy and familiar place. Initially, the restaurant followed the rhythm of the seasons, but over time, listening to the requests of local people, Giancarlo realised that something more was needed. A reference point for local workers who, during their breaks, did not know where to go. His resourcefulness and foresight led to the decision to keep La Tinaia open all year round.
Over the years, his efforts have been rewarded by the affection and loyalty of those who have always appreciated the quality and atmosphere he has skilfully created in the heart of Forio.
Today, proudly carrying on his legacy is his family: his wife and four daughters, who continue to work with the same passion and dedication to maintain the high standards that have always distinguished La Tinaia. A daily commitment that keeps quality and tradition intact in the sign of Giancarlo and his vision.
Since 2019, the Mandl family has taken the reins of La Tinaia, carrying on with dedication and passion the idea that Giancarlo had more than thirty years ago. Every day their commitment is not only to guarantee the quality of the products offered and the service, but also to the continuous improvement of the environment, to make La Tinaia an ever more welcoming and familiar place.

‘The trust and affection of our customers, islanders and non-islanders alike, is our greatest pride. Many of them are now at home, returning regularly to rediscover the flavours and atmosphere that won them over. It is this special connection, built over time, that makes La Tinaia not just a restaurant, but a true community where tradition, hospitality and passion come together’.

Today, La Tinaia combines tradition and innovation, remaining faithful to the values of quality, passion and dedication that have always distinguished it.
